Context

At Circleback, the recording panel appears across a range of moments before, during, and after recording.

Problem and opportunity

As the product evolved, the panel expanded to support a range of states with different actions and requirements. This work focused on bringing those states into a more unified system and making them easier to understand together.

Comparing two approaches to waveform density. More bars created a finer, more detailed texture, while fewer thicker bars felt clearer and held up better at smaller sizes.

When the full app is not in view, the recording panel stays accessible as a floating panel on the desktop. Clicking the Circleback icon brings the main window back.
